Mark & Diane Barnes are delighted to welcome you to the beautiful TopThorn Farm!

TopThorn is so much more than just a farm, it’s a sprawling 200-acre haven for Beef & Sheep, nestled in the beautiful Whinfell Valley. It’s situated a mere four miles north of the bustling Market Town of Kendal. So, get ready to feast your eyes on lovely views stretching towards Whinfell Beacon. We’re excited for you to experience it too!

Borrowdale, which must not be mistaken for its better known brother in the Lake District, is a good valley for walkers, but so is the Whinfell Ridge which includes the top of Ashstead Fell, Mabbin Crag, Castle Fell, Whinfell Beacon and Grayrigg Common. The beacon is known even by those who do not know its name, for there is a Post Office Radio Repeater Station perched near the summit.  The beacon is not, however, the highest point on the Ridge; it stands 1,544 feet above sea-level.
